Assalamu alaikum and welcome to Saarbrücken! 👋
Starting at a new university in a new country is a lot. This site is run by the Islamische Hochschulgemeinde (IHG), the Islamic university community in Saarbrücken. It connects you with senior Muslim students and PhDs at Saarland University who study your subject. They have already dealt with the same courses, exams and paperwork, and they have volunteered to help newcomers.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”-
Find your field. Open Fields of Study and pick your faculty and program.

Choose your level. Each program is split into Bachelor and Master & above (Master, PhD, state exam and similar).

Pick a mentor. Each card shows the languages the mentor speaks and what they can help with. You can also search everyone at once in the mentor directory.

Reach out. Use the contact option the mentor chose. Introduce yourself briefly: your name, program, semester and what you need help with.
Good etiquette
Section titled “Good etiquette”- Mentors are volunteers with their own studies. Be patient and allow a few days for a reply.
- Ask concrete questions (“Which electives are good in the 1st semester?”) rather than “tell me everything”.
- Don’t share mentors’ contact details with others. Point them to this site instead.
- Mentors help with orientation and advice. They don’t do assignments for you. 🙂
